Artist’s Note
Octopuses are some of the most interesting cases in neuroscience. Their nervous systems aren’t centralized like ours are. Most of their neurons live in their arms, which means each limb can sense and respond on its own as it moves.
They are problem solvers and interact with their environment in ways that don’t translate easily into human terms. To me their thoughts move through the body as action.
The headphones are funny here, because octopuses don’t 'hear' like us. They don’t have ears, but instead have organs that sense vibrations. Still, it feels like they’re listening to something we can’t understand. Like theres a layer of the world that exists beyond our perception.
